The second running of the Lawrence Landfill Dale Stages was recently held at the disused airfield in Haverfordwest. The event was organised by the Teifi Valley Motor Club (TVMC) and supported by Guy and Tim Lawrence of Lawrence Landfill and what an event it was. With 70 competitors, including junior enthusiasts this year, it will hopefully secure the future of the event.

Driver James Williams of Cenarth, son of Mark and Hazel, and navigator Eurig Davies put on a terrific show to take the Teifi Valley Motor Club Ltd Lawrence Landfill Junior 1000 Dale Stages 2013 Junior Champion in a class of ten.

' Well what an awesome weekend! From the weather down to the team and driving! I'd like to say well done to the crews who made the day so exciting and tense and the win so special. Also I'd like to thank the organisers such as Teifi Valley Motor Club, Junior 1000 Rally Club, the marshals and sponsors. The event itself was of a high quality with a mixture of surfaces which tested the drivers and cars and hopefully we will be lining up at the start line next year! Finally I'd like to thank Eurig James Daviesfor being on great form and pushing me when I needed it and calming me before the decisive last stage! Delmi Davies and Tim Harrison for the help during the day and to Tracey Downes for the brownie cakes. Finally the biggest thank you to my dad for all the hard work he has put in! Makes all of those late nights down the garage worthwhile, and I hope to make him proud!'

Overall winning driver and co driver were Bob Fowden and Paul Wakely, with Richard Merriman and Kath Curzon in second position and third place being awarded to car number one Pembrokeshire's Roland Llewellin and Georgia Llewellin (last year's winners). The event saw competitors from the Brian Dennis Welsh Historic Rally Championship, the Steve Harkness Competition Tyres Welsh Tarmacadam Championship and the Kick Energy Junior 1000 Championship taking part in glorious weather.

Ceri Jones and Jenny Evans of Rhydlewis had a good run finishing first in class and eighth position overall. The pair are competing in the Welsh Tarmac Championship and this was another feather in their hat.

Ceri said: ' We were leading our class from the beginning and had a really tough battle all day with Marc Thomas, a chap who is against us in the championship. We also went through several tyres because it was so hot.'

Eurig Evans, Deputy Clerk of the Course said the day was very well supported by all the Championships concerned.

He added: ' Thank you to all the marshals and radio crews who attended the event. The Club had an excellent turnout of members to help and thanks is also given to them.
