The Teifi Valley Motor Club Limited Gareth 'Jaffa' Roberts Memorial Cilwendeg Rally 2012, sponsored by Wales Motorsport Fabrication will take place at the weekend of 27th / 28th in the Newcastle Emlyn area. Leading the rally will be Lampeter Motor Club member Kevin Davies, closely followed in car number two by the Welsh Associations of Motor Clubs' Welsh Road Rally 2011 Champion, TVMC member, Meiron Evans of Betws Ifan.

Both men are keen competitors and as Kevin explains, he is delighted to be car number one this year.

' Anyone you talk to from the young to the old want to win Cilwendeg and to be car number one the following year. It's great to be number one,' said Kevin who will have Dale Bowen as his navigator this year as he tries to retain his title.

Kevin added: ' I know that Meirion is in car two and he's in the car all year round competing. Last year it was so close with Dan Lwni some three to four second behind me. You just have to wait and see what happens on the night. I'm going to use my head and enjoy it and if I win it will be a bonus. It'll be a level playing field for all and the route is all on tarmac, so very fair for all involved.'

TVMC Chairman, Dyfan Davies is delighted that once again, the Club is hosting such an event in West Wales.

' It is by far one of the most popular road rallies in the United Kingdom and the TVMC is proud to be involved in the organising of it. It is also a very special rally this year as we remember the late Gareth 'Jaffa Roberts, who was a popular and well respected member of our Club. We are honoured to be holding the rally in his name,' explained Dyfan.

75 of cars will be taking part in the rally over 115 miles of tarmac. From Beulah in the north to Meidrim in the south with the first car leaving Newcastle Emlyn mart car park at midnight.

Dyfan added: ' I would like to take this opportunity as chairman to thank everyone involved in organising this rally. It is not done on a whim. Months of hard work and preparation has gone into this event. We work closely with the MSA and officers of the Dyfed Powys Police and householders to ensure everyone is contented. Let's hope everyone has a good rally, competitors and spectators alike.'
